HI GUYS! I wanted to share my latest shoemaking adventure. I picked up this printed leather at Tandy Leather a few weeks ago and I couldn't wait to make some shoes with it. I love a great platform so I decided to make some inspired by another pair of platforms I purchased last year.
I am obsessed with shoemaking and every time I make a pair of shoes I amaze myself, LOL! These were a lot of fun to make. I have made platforms before so this pair only took me about 5 hours from start to finish. We have an intro to shoemaking course on SEWITACADEMY.COM so if you are a member you can watch that course, if you are not a member check it out, you can even sign up for our free trial.
I bought a sewing machine for my shoemaking, it's an industrial machine that sews through layers and leather just like butter! It is the SAILRITE. It's such a compact but powerful machine and I am loving it.
THE LOOK!
Thank you for reading! if you have questions about shoemaking let me know in the comments.

Your shoes are beautiful and I have a question. Can the width be varied?
MiMi G, you had said you worked on your regular sewing machine to make shoes before purchasing your Sailrite. Which machine did you use? I know mine wouldn’t be strong enough for shoes so I’d like to start pricing out something new. I'm also considering purchasing Amanda's shoe making classes so it will help out a bunch there too! Thank you!
Sooo in love!!! Hopefully this is part 2 of shoemaking course in SIA😁🤞🏽
I have both the “Sailrite fabricator and the Red Sailrite LSZ-…They sew like a dream and are work horse! I now have added to my collection the Juki 8700 straight, stitch industrial and the Juki 1181 in walking foot industrial for my leather handbags!
I can’t wait to learn how to make shoes Mimi!!! 🥰
