DIY Wearable Muslin Dress + Pattern Review V1344
Hi Darlings!
I have had this pattern in my stash for a long time and I wanted to make it but just did not know if I would love it or not so I finally tackled it and used a fabric I had in my stash courtesy of Joann Fabrics. I used something that if I liked it I could wear it and if I didn’t I had plenty more of to make something else, lol.
A muslin is used to make fit adjustments to your pattern or drape before cutting into your actual fashion fabric. Muslin for me means anything that is a scrap fabric that has the same sort of feel, hand, weight as the fabric I plan to use so I can get a good idea of how the pattern to fabric will really react. Sometimes if I want to make it and am pretty sure the fit will be fine but am unsure if I will like it once made up I use a muslin that is wearable and made from fabric that I have enough of to “play” with and if it turns out good I can actually wear it, lol.
Pattern Description: Misses Dress Pattern Sizing: I cut the 6
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done? Kinda Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, the instructions were clear. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I was on the fence about it but I like the sleeve caps in a contrast color and I like the front ruffle.
Fabric Used: Print Challis Courtesy of Joann Fabric
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: None
Would you sew it again? I think I would prefer it in a solid color but since this was intended as a muslin, it works. Would you recommend it to others? Yes, I think it’s cute and a great summer dress but think it would be better in a solid.
