DIY SHIRTDRESS USING SIMPLICITY #8384
HI DARLINGS! Happy Monday. Today is all about this DIY SHIRTDRESS using SIMPLICITY #8384 and how much I love it. This is #2 of my #DIYYELLOWCOLLECTION, and although the main color isn’t yellow, I thought I would add coordinating fabrics, prints, stripes to this collection for more interest. I love coordinating fabrics for the collections as opposed to doing all one color fabrics which is what I initially thought I would do. This, however, works better for mixing and matching. The stripes on the shirt are yellow, and I am wearing my yellow shoes and earrings. More details on the pattern, fabric, and modifications below.

DIY SHIRTDRESS PATTERN INFO & MODIFICATIONS
This is SIMPLICITY 8384 and I love this pattern. I have had this in my pattern stash for a long time but I had yet to make it. I finally decided to use it for my shirting fabric. I made a few modifications. I shortened it a bit, added cuffs and made the sash. I love a bow and love making self-fabric sashes and belts, especially for dresses. I decided to use white shirting for the button band, collar and then added the white cuffs. The sash is just two long pieces sewn at the CB and then folded in half, stitched and turned right side out. I wrapped it twice and tied the bow.
I love that back has an elastic casing which made fitting pretty easy and also makes the dress very comfortable and allows you to pull on the dress. I love the pockets! and will definitely be making this dress again. The fabric is a striped shirting from MOOD FABRICS.
