DIY Neon Pink Dress + Pattern Review

Hi Darlings, I am so EXCITED that the new website issues have been fixed, and we are up and running. I have so much catching up to do due to the almost week delay, so I thank you for your patience in advance. This website has been months in the making, and I am so proud of it. If you are ever in need of an amazing app developer or web designer, please make sure to visit Demarus at www.phreshapps.com and tell him Mimi sent you.

Aside from being stoked about posting on the new platform and hearing all your great feedback I am also excited to post the details of the DIY neon pink dress I teased you guys with last week. Please leave a comment below and let me know what you think of the new site and don’t forget to watch the “Navigating The Site: A Guided Tour Video”

Pattern Description: Vogue 8849 Pleated Peplum Dress, Lined, Center Back Zipper

Pattern Sizing: I cut size 6 and graded down because it was too big all around.

Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes, for the most part.

Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, I reviewed them so that I could answer this question and the steps are clear and easy to follow. I did not use them since I have made so many dresses I could sew this with my eyes closed but I did read them.

What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I loved the strapless/peplum version as soon as I saw it because it reminded me of a dress I wanted to make but the back peplum in this pattern was not appealing to me so I changed it.

Fabric Used: I used a rayon/wool blend in neon pink HERE and THIS yellow would be amazing too! (note: the neon pink color on the website is not correct depending on your screen, the more accurate color is shown in my images)

Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I used the same peplum piece for the front for the back. I added 5/8″ seam allowance and did not cut on the fold for the back.

Would you sew it again? No, I have so many other things to sew that I only need one of these but it is a great pattern to use as a sloper to create other design options.

Would you recommend it to others? Yes, I suggest this for an intermediate or advanced beginner only because it does require a little know-how  in creating structure aside from the boning they have you insert, especially if you have bigger boobies than me…which is most of the female population, lol.
