HI DARLINGS! You might recognize this knit dress; it is one of my summer patterns, SIMPLICITY 8639. I first posted HERE and had since made another shorter version. This blue one is one of my favorites, the color is so vibrant and the dress is shhhmmmeeexxxxyyy! Details below on my fabric and pattern info.
I designed this pattern so that we could include a built-in power mesh that will help hold things together when you don’t want to wear Spanx.

DIY DRESS INFO & MODIFICATIONS
I made this in a blue modal blend knit that I had in my stash but I think you can still search it on the Michael Levine website. I made the longer version and used a nude power mesh.
I didn’t make any modifications to this and remember that there is always a SEW-ALONG for my Simplicity patterns to help you sew this dress up.

Making clothes myself has changed the way I shop for ready-made pieces. I notice fit, construction, and fabric much faster now, which means I am harder to impress than I used to be. That was the point where uniqlo reviews became more valuable to me than another clean product page, because I wanted to know how the clothes actually feel once they are worn, washed, and folded into real life. A nice silhouette is not enough on its own anymore. I want the practical side to hold up too.
