Hi Darlings, Thank you for your patience! here is part two of our family vacation to New Orleans. I can’t say enough how much we enjoyed it and we really hope to visit again.
On day three we went on what I think was my favorite part of the trip. The bike riding tour was so much fun! and such an amazing learning experience. The tours are filled with history lessons, stories and amazing stops along the way. If you are visiting or are even a local to NOLA you must take this Confederacy of Cruisers bike tour.
The suit below is from a Mardi Gras Indian Tribe. It was displayed in an art gallery and I was blown away by its beauty and construction. The suit usually takes between six to nine months to plan and complete and the beading and details are done by HAND! this particular one was made by a 14 YEAR OLD BOY!!
We had so many stops along the way.
We then went to the New Orleans Museum of Art and the botanical gardens at City Park.
On day four we went to the Zoo but first stopped for food. This was my very first PoBoy and I LOVED it, we went back twice lol! to Parkway Bakery and Tavern
My baby is such an actor, lol!
I didn’t know I owned a gator, lol!
The Walking tour of Tremé was so wonderful and we had a great tour guide. New Orleans is the oldest African-American neighborhood in the United States and was a center of civil rights activity in the latter half of the 1800s. If you ever get a chance to take this tour I highly recommend it.
We spent a wonderful evening at Preservation Hall. They were so accommodating and gave us a backstage tour and front row seats to listen to the amazing band. The kids loved it and we will certainly be visiting again when we are in town.
On our very last day we went kayaking on the bayou. Can I just tell you that my kids are so adventurous, they are swimmers, climbers, runners and total dare devils. They are always open to new experiences and I love watching them. They took to kayaking so quickly and had a blast.
